Ugam Education Foundation

Ugam Education Foundation (UEF) is a not for profit organization registered under section 8 of the Companies Act 2013. 

Ugam envisions a world where outcomes and experiences of education are meaningful for all.

Mission: is to ensure that girls experience an empowering education and become role models and community leaders, through individual, institutional and systemic change by creating model KGBVs.

Where we work

Jharkhand: created in 2000 this beautiful state is in eastern India.

Comprises of 24 districts with a largely rural population.

19 of its 24 districts are Aspirational Districts.

What is Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas?

The Central government of India runs residential schools for girls from grade 6 to grade 12. Priority is for girls from marginalised groups to support completion of secondary schools

There are 204 KGBVs and 57 JBAVs (Jharkhand Balika Awasiya Vidyalayas – run by Jharkhand State along same lines as KGBVs) in Jharkhand.

Each school with a hostel building and a school building for the girls.
